A SAFE AND RELIABLE CHOICE – DEVELOPED WITH CARE

When you require a dependable and quality-assured paper pot product that meets the highest standards, we can safely say that Ellepot is the way to go.

Ellepot Paper is the key component in the Integrated Ellepot Propagation System, because, when it comes down to it, it is the reason behind every other thing we do. The planet needs more sustainable solutions, and we are here to deliver – with good, environment-friendly propagation paper to replace plastic pots and our ongoing, dedicated work to keep pushing for the most innovative and safe solutions.

The Ellepot esthetic is based on growing and working ‘smarter’, and for us here at Ellepot, that signifies optimizing and fine-tuning all aspects of the propagation process. From start to finish in all product development processes, Ellepot takes several steps to ensure minimal use of resources for a maximized output – naturally also by using only the best and most sustainable resources and materials.

Degradation vs Biodegradation

Degradation refers to the disintegration of a material over time due to light, heat, moisture, chemical conditions, enzymes or other biological activity.

Biodegradation refers to the breakdown of material over time into simpler substances, such as carbon dioxide, water and ammonia, through the action of microorganisms.

Degradation time

We define the degradation time of our Ellepot papers as a combination of the paper's total functional life and visual disintegration.

Please note that the decomposition can vary due to many influencing factors e.g., pH, moist and substrate mix.

Visual disintegration refers to the time in which it is no longer possible to identify the paper in its original form.

As our degradable Ellepot papers are made of natural cellulose fibres with an admixture of polymer for strength, the degradation time of each of our different Ellepot papers will be influenced by the growing substrate used and key environmental conditions such as pH, temperature and humidity. Explained quite simply, the paper will degrade faster in a warm, wet environment and slower in a cool, dry environment.

The degradation of our Ellepot papers was evaluated as safe for the environment by the renowned agricultural institute SEGES according to the EC directive 86/278/EEC on the protection of the environment, particularly the soil.
